I’m John Mooney — the traveler behind this website.
For the past eight years, we’ve been exploring the world full time. Despite what people often assume, this isn’t early retirement. My wife and I work two online jobs and build travel into the spaces between deadlines and responsibilities. We tell people “our lives are the same as everyone else only the backyard is always changing”. It’s a reminder that long-term travel isn’t reserved for the wealthy or the retired — it’s possible with curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to live a little differently.
I started this blog back in 2018 for a simple reason: to keep our families updated and reassure them that we were alive, well, and somewhere interesting. Along the way it grew into something bigger — a place to share stories, photographs, and practical tips that might help other travelers discover the world for themselves.
Everything you’ll find here comes from firsthand experience — the places we’ve wandered, the trails we’ve climbed, the temples we’ve explored, and the unexpected moments that make travel memorable.
Over the years we’ve tackled a few classic bucket-list adventures: hiking remote mountain trails, climbing active volcanoes, spotting wildlife in far-flung corners of the globe, and wandering through centuries-old castles, temples, and monuments.
Like any good traveler, I’ll admit we haven’t been everywhere — yet. But it’s certainly on the list.
If this blog does its job well, it will help you travel a little smarter, venture a little farther, and discover a few places you might not have found otherwise. After all, the world is a big place — and there’s always another road worth taking. 🌍✈️
